small wood stoves for "hunter's tents"
Re: small wood stoves for "hunter's tents"
I want to see her install the threaded rods. She has to be kneeling on the ground doing the assembly.
You know, just like how it would be done out in the field. Real life situation.

Re: small wood stoves for "hunter's tents"
Do you want to see me do the threaded rod part ? Perhaps I can get another video shot.
It's really not that bad. It can take awhile however it is much easier, to just take nut off one side, push it through and then tighten the top. Done like that it is pretty painless.

If you "post" the video, then put everything after the first "equals" sign inside the "youtube" quotes.
That way, we can see it here.

Here is my assistant
Perhaps we could do it in 50 MPH winds or I could convince here to put it together while being sprayed with a firehose
All kidding aside, the stove pipe is very difficult the first time, after that it gets much easier to the point that by the 3rd or 4th time it takes about 30 seconds.

Re: small wood stoves for "hunter's tents"
Nice to have "an assistant".
Have you given any consideration to wind affecting the stove pipe?
Others in this thread, earlier, have expressed concern about this very issue regarding other tipis and tent tipis and hunter's tents.
Here is an example:
This man set up a Kifaru medium stove for "burn in" using a metal fence post to secure the stovepipe.

screencapture #2

It is interesting how he used the wire loops.
In a later video, when he had got his GoLite Shangri-La 4 and Ti-Goat stove jack, he reported the wind tore at the edge of the stove jack he mended and added Permatex to the edge. He said nothing is holding the stovepipe, except the "stove jack" and driving the legs of the stove down into the ground.
screencapture #3

Here is the video:
He describes 30 - 40 mph winds, which may be an "average" in actual conditions.
Of course, when you are inside any tipi or tent in snow you keep the snow off the sides of the tent.

Here is another example, with the stovepipe near the center pole.

It seems stovepipe loops might loop around the tipi center pole...
What has been your experience with wind, so far?
I have seen photos of "red hot" stovepipes.
Here is a stovepipe with an insulation screen installed.

I am "posting" all this stuff, because I am so interested in having a backpackable winter camping outfit.

Thank you so much for putting the video up. A video is worth a million photos

Really nice stove. Will you make the same stove in stainless steel?
Hey oops56, men think differently than women. Not my observation, the ones who know!!!!
