The new guy came to tell us about his "Butterfly" knives site in his signature.

I purchased eight 3/8 rods from his ebay store. Gave 2 to my wife and she's a happy camper. She thinks they should be played with daily. It's like "Sparklers On Demand"

My wife's the same way... ..I picked up some interesting plastic wrapped/sealed waterproof(don't think it matters)starter pellets that look like the same white stuff.Each one is a nice size for starting a fire..I think there was supposed to be 12 in the box but I probably only came up with 9-10 of the things..Oh well..50 cents..can't b*tch... ..Just counted them..the full 12 are here!

basically what they are but under the gerber name..called Strike Force Fire Starter Cubes..
2ton sells chunks for pretty cheap.the stuff works really well and lights super easy..supposedly even when wet.We pack some of that also..Wetfire...

Yeah, I read the stuff works well. Let us know how it works for you in the real world when you're out and about in the heavy dew.

Make sure you watch the second video link in my post above..edited that one in there...Pretty cheap stuff if you buy it that way!I'll be looking for a package if those..should last a year or two for me..for less than $5..

Yeah, that's how heavy your WA dew gets. the firestarter works great. Nice demo video, thanks RG. Do you think that stuff will work in place of Esbit tabs as a fuel for cooking?

As I said before watch the utube video posted above..second one in the post.he's boiling water with it..one cube lasted about 11minutes or so..boil at about 1/2 that..

I'm going to keep my eyes open for the weber firestarters..sounds like the same stuff..and cheaper.it only takes a little.We use a piece about 1/4"x1/4"x1" or less..for each fire..fires right up..Don't use serrated blades like I did in the video... .
I don't know what the wetfire is made of...looks like a marshmallow,feels like an oily piece of soft chocolate candy,and smells slightly like lighter fluid,shaves like soft wax..I don't know how else to describe the stuff,but works great!I think the best description would be the consistancy of a bar of ivory soap...Once you buy a package of the weber ones,they'll last so long that it isn't worth making your own.It probably costs the same amount to buy the materials to make something similar.I'll be checking my local Ace hardware store's BBQ section...
