How to add a ridgeline to a titanium pot?
How to add a ridgeline to a titanium pot?
I saw this post here: http://backpackinglight.com/forums/topic/92988/ and I really want a setup like this. However it looks like neither the person who made the ridgeline nor the person who makes the caldera cone is super interested in making these custom. So I might have to DIY. I've seen a couple peoples' ideas on making ridges in a Fosters can which is aluminum. I wonder if it'll work on titanium which is stronger? What method would you recommend for me? I don't have a machine shop but I can drive to a hardware store and buy some tools if needed. I have some basic tools.

It's too difficult to do a ridgeline on Ti.
Trail Designs is too busy to do custom cone making.

Can you give any tips in case I do want to try? I'm pretty seriously thinking about doing my own ridgeline and making my own cone out of titanium since nobody seems to be interested in doing it. I would imagine I need the ability to apply increasing amounts of pressure to a point that pushes against the pot side at a pre-set height while protecting the other side which braces against the pot. Then I would turn in a circle a few times, increase pressure, turn in circle a few times, increase pressure, etc until the ridge is wide enough.

There are youtube videos that show how to make ridgelines on aluminum. Adapt the methods to Titanium. Just beef up the tools they use.
