How do you get that rolled over top edge ??
I have been reviewing and trying my hand at making different variations of those Aluminum "BOTTLE" not can alcohol stoves and I was wondering how to produce that rolled over edge I am seeing on some of the web sites.. It is the top edge of the outer portion that seems to be rolled over towards the inside of stove and it eliminates the seam and sharp edge between the inner and outer parts..How is it done.Looking for a simple solution.

If you read thru the board, you will see how it is done. There is some guy on youtube that shows a video of how to do it. The two fabricators I know, use a die that has been machined to precise specifications and the bottle is then pressed on the die. It can be done using a bottle for your die, Search youtube for one of tinys video's showing how.

A jig and a press, but I've heard of some having occasional luck with a vise instead of a press. The jig is definitely a commitment in time and money towards making the stove. I purposed once possibly making one out of wood on a lathe.

Watch this video and you'll get an idea how to do it the least expensive way, not the way I do it but it is said that the method works:

I stumbled upon this link where someone claims to have used this technique successfully. I don't have a press or bottles to try myself. If you read you will see this claim

I made a few stoves out of a larger diameter bottle(boulevard wheat beer) I used a 2 pound hammer and a steel plate to form the stove. Takes patience

I'd probably use my "bodyworking technique for straightening bumpers"..using a hydraulic car jack,a couple chunks of 4x4,and a handy garage door header(expanding a space between two unmovable objects of concrete and wood)...

I noticed the bottom of the Mountain Dew bottle is not the same shape as a Budwiser. Do you know if the method shown in the video works on the Mountain Dew bottles?
