Introduction

Postby DarenN » Wed Feb 06, 2008 12:15 pm

Hello fellow stove junkies! :lol:
The name's Daren, from the west coast of Canada. my addiction to stove building began with my purchase of a Trangia 27 kit for kayaking. i've built all the usual suspects, the pepsi-g, photon, cat, supercat, penny, altoids, etc. and modified them all trying my own ideas. some worked, some failed. though alcohol is my fuel of choice, i have also designed a few wood-burners, one of which worked so well i decided to manufacture and sell it. i'm a metal worker by trade so some of the things i build end up being beyond the scope of some hobby builders.
this site is a wealth of information!!
all the best;
DarenN........

Welcome Stove Junky Daren from Western Canada :D

We hope your not too busy making stoves. Would like to have you stick around and show some photos of your stoves and your welcome to list your wood burner for sale in our "Cottage Industries Forum". All members are welcomed to do that. Contact Skidsteer, Mags or myself on how to do so.

For starters we would like to see the wood burner you manufacture for retail. We want the best first :D

aw shucks thanks zelph! :oops:

yea, it's all stainless (24ga 304 2B mill). weighs less than 16 0unces. i tried making one out of aluminum but it was a bear to assemble. only made a couple ounce diff anyways.

i've been selling them for nearly a year, doing my own distribution via the mail. i'm global! ;) two in Austria, one in England, about twenty in the U.S., and scatterred all the way from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland. this rather surprises me, concidering they ain't cheap. when i started out i figured 'ok, i'll sell a few and then it will go away'. didn't seem to work out that way as i sold three last week. all through this one bb post:

((i tried that same downdraft that you tried. unsuccessfully, i might add)

well now,oops.
if you were to trade something out of your massive collection, then you wouldn't have any more stoves than before. just one different one. 8-) i'd really like to see the insides of one of those coil burners, to see if i could build one. (hint hint).
