I am from Sweden and i need some help ...

Postby Jokkmokk » Thu Mar 04, 2010 8:32 pm

The problem is that i want to make my own BudLyte Super Stove but here in Sweden we don't have the aluminum bottles of the kind you have in the USA. And if anyone can help me I would be grateful. Send me a PM.

Welcome to the site Jokkmokk. Your best bet is to just contact Zelph and buy a stove. Regular soda and beer cans have too thin of walls to allow them to be rolled in a die. If you are a machinist, you might be able to make the die that will allow you to roll the bottles wall but the aluminum bottles are a thicker aluminum than the cans. Do you have Energy drink aluminum bottles such as Venom? They are similar to the Bud Aluminum bottle in wall thickness.

No, it does not come to Sweden yet and sought after in Europe and will apparently be sold in the UK. But would be fun to have different aluminum bottles as Bud and Heineken. I think I know how to do a self and that is the creation as I want. Thanks for the reply

There are lots of other options. Many pressurized cans - hair spray, mousse, sunblock come in cans/bottles that have walls thick enough to form a similar stove body. Some may be a bit smaller in diameter, but can be worked. I made one out of a mousse can - or almost did. I had it rolled perfectly and the only reason I didn't finish it was that I dented it upon removal (Using compressed air to separate the two pieces I shot the stove into the concrete floor - it was not so explosive so that I could not have caught it had I been ready for that, but I wasn't). I used the bottom of another can/bottle of the same type as the "die".

It really wasn't as bad as it sounds. Just a bit of a pop, but the unsupported can went straight to the deck and bounced a bit. I was holding the die and not the stove. Had I held the stove by the base it would have simply separated my hands and vented out the sides when it came apart. I had the pressure dialed down a bit and was using a blow off nozzle into a hole in the die piece, so there was no real trapped volume.

I have seen that the spray bottles are of the same model. I will try and see if I can get it to work. But if someone feels that they could help me, you send me a PM.
