Here's a photo Ron Haven took shortly after I finished brewing the Java.

By the way NightWalker, 54% effeciency is the same number I got when I ran that stove through Atraildreamer's test! :D

It's the highest rating of any stove I've tested so far. I'm impressed you got it with a JB cup. I wouldn't have guessed that.

I was watching the start of the John Beargrease sled dog marathon yesterday here in Duluth and I was chatting with a guy who uses a HUGE alcohol stove to warm up water to mix with his dog's food. The guy said he put in two bottles of HEET at a time to burn it.

Everytime I see Skids brewing coffee I expect to see two mountains in the backround and a burrow! I just don't understand it! lol!

Today should be a good test of those alchy stoves. I'm in St. Paul and its -4 and droppinf with a wind chill that's gotta be -25 at least :D

It's no wonder alcohol is the fuel of choice for the Iditerod and other sled endurance races. I wonder how the Myth got started!!!

Alcohol burns well in cold weather :)

Good day for testing the myth here in St. Paul< MN.

At 7:15 this morning it was -13 degrees below zero with a wind chill of -30 degrees.

My daughters car would'nt start but mine did. My duty was to drive her to her doctors appointment :) . It was soo cold the grease on the door latches seased to be greasy :D

Long story short!!!!! I used my Starlyte burner to thaw the grease enough for the passenger side door to latch shut. My daughter was getting tired of holding from opening while we proceded to drive toward Minneapolis :D

The burner was filled with one ounce of HEET and was at -13 degrees. I lit without a problem. My daughter was operating the camera as I was doing the lighting and application of the fire to the latch. It;s on camera :D Will post when I return on Friday.

My daughter scanned over to the dashboard to show the temperature reading of outside air.

This test was performed at 7:30 AM on that cold cold morning Brrrrrrrrrrrrr it was brutally cold. Check out the wind affect on the flame. The Starlyte loaded with 1 oz. of HEET was in my frigid trunk. We were going to do a photo test first thing but got cancelled because of her car not starting and having to start up mine and do the switcheroos. The butane lighter was in my coat pocket when we left her apartment so it was warm when I lit the burner. The Starlyte burner is a winner :D

Myth Busted in Minnesota in -13 degree weather

Been a while since I visited bplite. Nothing new on this thread I see. A few years ago I used my fanceefeest at -22*F. Used a lot of fuel to melt snow.

For melting slow a mega Starlyte aka Companion burner is better. In the summer months I can boil one gallon of water with a Fancee Feest.
