Pot Handle Modification
Pot Handle Modification
Today I added a handle to a stainless steel pot, 11cm approx. 4 cup capacity. The pot is a cheapo from china, flimsy until I added a ridge. I used a picture hanging clip. Removed the d-ring and mounted it to the pot with tiny machine screws and nuts. Temporary fix until I find my pop rivet gun. The handle is from a Toaks titanium pot. Only one is needed to lift and pour water into a freezer bag. I have a couple 10 cm Imusa Mugs that I will make the same modification to.

With only one isn't it a little hard to pour

Re: Pot Handle Modification
It's easy to pour with one handle. The handle wire is really stout and when squeezed it grips tight. I'm doing testing with the Toaks 600 and so removed one handle, that handle has been laying around trying to get lost. I saw a thread at whiteblaze about mods to Imusa mugs and so my mind was in a modification mode when I saw the package of picture hanging hardware on my workbench. Over at backpackinglight there was some conversation about a new pot grabber/lifter that weighs 6 grams. A toaks handle weighs 9 grams and can stays connected with the pot for storage. I'm curious about a lot of things
Using one handle was something I had to try
and I was surprised how well it worked

Me thinks your spot welder might have been a better option than screws or pop rivets, providing you have enough clearance

I agree. There is plenty clearance. I'll weld it on tomorrow If the creeks don't rise to high. Big rains are coming. It's going to mess up my fishing plans.Ridgerunner wrote:Me thinks your spot welder might have been a better option than screws or pop rivets, providing you have enough clearance
Pop rivets are something that the average DIYer would have access to for the little modification.
Are you getting much service out of your welder? Mine is getting a good workout doing pot supports for Fancee Feests
