Re: Fall fishing, tipi tent with SS wood stove/heat exchange
I used to do the same with the black walnuts for my moms apple pies. I remember using a vise to get them open and scraped out the bits into a small cup. About a table spoon or 2 is all that was needed to flavor up those pies. strong stuff.

Re: Read On My Friends
Hiya all,
Been spending a lot of time up in the Adirondacks. Torturing myself with lean2rescue and also having fun backpacking and canoeing. Home garden is slowly coming in. No stove tinkering, ever since the fancee feest I can't see anything being better.

Re: flap meat
The flap is a portion of the sirloin. It is next to the tenderloin.
The site I use for all my beef questions: http://www.steakperfection.com/cut/Sirloin.html
I wouldn't use it for jerky. Use leaner, tougher pieces like from the round for jerky.

I do the same thing to clean mine. It is easier with a "shorter" pot unless you have a really long finger. Since I start my meal with making my tea, I have the used tea bag which makes a good "scrubby" if needed.
