Fuel Gel, Diethylene Glycol - Your thoughts?
My brother in-law found this product, "Fuel Gel, Diethylene Glycol, Military". It is supposed to be used as a replacement for the old Trioxane bars. has anyone tried these? I have trimmed off the lip of the strainer using a belt sander. Then invert the strainer on the bottom of the pot. Add in some water and heat. Now you have a perfect steam baker.

The lid is a snap on lid. I am sure you could rig it for the same purpose as the drip coffee maker.

While cruising through the grocery store yesterday I happened to notice the containers for Marshmallow Fluff. The 16 oz. container appeared to be just about the right size for the Heiny Pot. That is indeed 1/16" fiberglass wick wrapped on my Heiny Pot. It does act as an insulator. It allows you to pick up the stove for a long enough period of time to pour whatever water you need to. I have since switched to a wire bail handle and a bandanna for weight reasons. To each his own.

You could use the storage container to support the freezer bag while pouring in the water and the container will also act as an insulator from the elements just like a pot cozy. You sold me. If you can still find any, they are in the camping department. Usually on an upper shelf. They are designed to replace the glass globe on a camping lantern.
